Platform - Overview

The MagicOrange platform traces every technology figure back to the record it came from.

Cloud tools see the cloud bill and IT cost tools see the ledger, and almost none carry the people. MagicOrange holds all seven categories on one set of definitions, so finance, IT and the business read the same number.Follow the traceSee the capabilitiesCheck the standards

One model

FinOps was built for what you consume and technology business management for what you own, but neither was built for the people.

MagicOrange holds all three families on one model, with the people counted in the same terms as the cloud bill.

The trace

Any figure can be walked back through every allocation that made it, to the record underneath.

A general ledger posting knows a vendor and an account. It doesn’t know which application the money powers or which business unit uses it. MagicOrange supplies the missing steps.

Every figure walks back through each allocation that made it, to the ledger line, the invoice or the metered event underneath. When a business unit disputes its recharge, the share of technology cost billed back to it, the answer is a trace rather than a rebuild.

Almost every organization can read a bill. Far fewer can say what each part of it was for. Allocation, chargeback, showback, attribution and cost assignment are one job under many names, and that job decides whether a number gets used or gets argued about.

Costed with an automated Bill of ICT, TBM-aligned, with cross-agency transparency.

The calculation engine

A language model can explain a figure, but only the calculation engine produces one.

Actuals, allocations and unit costs come from rules in the calculation engine. A language model can summarize a figure or answer questions about it, but it never produces one, so every figure an assistant shows you ties out.

From visibility to value

Seeing the cost is where you start, and what it returned is what you are judged on.

MOTEF, the MagicOrange Technology Economics Framework, runs every spend category through the same six moves. The first is visibility and the last is value, and the four between are the bridge.

  1. Visibility

    See

Every cost from every source, in one model, on shared definitions.

  2. The bridge

    Price

Cost in the unit the business manages: per trade, per claim, per customer.

  3. The bridge

    Plan

Budget and forecast on the model that holds the actuals.

  4. The bridge

    Optimize

Decide what to scale, redesign or retire, on evidence.

  5. The bridge

    Control

Budgets, thresholds and alerts that act before the invoice arrives.

  6. Value

    Prove

Book the result to a ledger line, so the value reconciles to the same books as the cost.

Value only counts when it lands on a ledger line.

Savings, new revenue and avoided spend are easy to claim and harder to book. The Tokenomics Foundation framework names five places value can land: new revenue won, revenue retained, spend removed, spend avoided and capital freed.

Six capabilities

Each capability does its own job, and all of them run on the same model.

Adding a second capability adds a view, not a second version of the truth. The model that measures this year’s spend also plans next year’s, so the forecast and the result stop being two conversations.

IT Financial Management

What technology costs, pre-built on TBM.

Enterprise Allocation Modeling

Model any cost, on your framework or ours, and defend every number.

FinOps

Cloud cost management, FOCUS-native, allocated daily.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Budgets, forecasts and what-if scenarios across financials, workforce, contracts and capex.

Time Capture and Resource Planning

The labor cost nobody else captures, from plan to timesheet to allocated cost.

AI Economics

Token, model, GPU and agent cost, and the return on AI investment.

Included with every capability

Data, reporting and AI assistants come with every capability, because they are part of the model.

They are included, not sold. They are never priced as capabilities, and they are never an add-on.

Data Studio

The agent-ready foundation under every capability: context, business rules and trusted data in one governed model.

Analytics

Power BI, conversational analysis and an open API, all reading the one model.

AI Studio

A digital workforce you can audit, working on your own governed model. Included, not an add-on.

Standards

Built on the frameworks your teams already run.

The model follows the TBM taxonomy, normalizes cloud billing to FOCUS and works to the FinOps Framework. MOTEF, MagicOrange’s own framework, holds all seven categories of spend on one model.

TBM

One structured taxonomy for technology and finance, built into the model.

FinOps Framework

Managing cloud and technology spend, and how MagicOrange supports it.

FOCUS

One normalized billing format across every hyperscaler, with token-level fields being defined now.
